Ofcom has published a statement completing its review of the use of
premium rate services (PRS) by radio broadcasters.

The statement introduces a new condition which will be inserted in
radio licences, to make licensees directly responsible for the
management of all communications with the public. This step, which
extends to radio some of the measures introduced in television
licences last year, will serve to protect consumers and maintain trust
in radio, while taking account of the specific circumstances which
apply to radio broadcasting.

For the avoidance of doubt, the categories of licences that Ofcom
proposes to vary are:

* under the 1990 Act: Local and National Sound Broadcasting
Licences, Additional Radio Service Licences, Restricted Service
Licences, Radio Licensable Content Service Licences and Community
Radio Licences.
