This year the CMA Conference and AGM will be held at the NCVO Conference Suite in north London. This is an exciting time for Community Media with the recent Community Radio Licence announcements and the consultation on the Draft Community Television Order. For CMA Members, this conference is the chance to shape the strategic direction of the organisation and vote in the next CMA Council. Taking place over two days, the event looks to be a lively and informative affair.

All the latest developments will be updated here so check regularly for updates.

OPENING RECEPTION

On the night of Friday 11 November, London's radio art station Resonance104.4fm will host a reception for CMA delegates and guests. This event will feature a performance by the Resonance Radio Orchestra, marking the launch of a seriesof commissions of new works for the ensemble supported by the Calouste-Gulbenkian Foundation and the Moose Foundation for the Arts.

Resonance104.4fmDescribed by The Guardian as 'the best radio station in London', Resonance was founded in May 2002 under the Radio Authority's Pilot Access Scheme. Run by the musical educational charity London Musicians' Collective, Resonance's brief is to offer a platform to the city's artistic community, to produce as stimulating and wide-ranging a broadcast schedule as possible - and to continue to surprise itself and its listeners.

One hundred per cent Community, one hundred per cent Radio, Resonance seeks not only to exploit the ways in which radio can galvanise local people, but to explore the aesthetic andcommunicative possibilities offered by the medium. The Resonance Radio Orchestra is a group which articulates many of the station's characteristics - its experimental methodology, its spirit of hospitality, its sense of social engagement, and its status as a hub and meeting place for diverse minds. In it new music is brought into equilibrium with text, sound engineering with conceptual art, innovation with quotation, performance with broadcast. Musicians, actors, writers, engineers, composers and improvisers participate in the development of what is in effect a new art form, one made possible and meaningful by community radio

But don't worry, tonight the Orchestra promise to keep it short and to the point.

Food and drink will of course be provided.

The Opening Reception takes place at:
The Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, Holborn, London WC1 (three minutes from Holborn tube)
