CMA ScotlandCMA Scotland is an initiative of the Community Media Association with a special focus on issues that affect Community Media in Scotland. A multilateral Steering Group, representing a variety of interests in the Scottish Community Media Sector oversees the activities and development of CMA Scotland. It is intended that CMA Scotland will become a separate organisation, affiliated to the Community Media Association with its own board and a special remit for the development of Community Media in Scotland. The CMA Scotland Steering group is leading this process. Community Media and Creative Scotland In March 2007, CMA Scotland completed a research project titled 'Community Media and Creative Scotland'. The project gathered evidence of the contribution Community Media makes in advancing the principles set out in the Scottish Executive’s vision for supporting Scotland’s cultural life. 'Community Media and Creative Scotland' was funded by the Scottish Arts Council. The final report made recommendations about the role that Scotland’s new cultural development agency, 'Creative Scotland' could play with respect to Community Media. The report also informed the development of a new policy framework proposed in the draft Culture Bill, for supporting cultural life in Scotland. The final report was published in the week preceding the deadline for responses to the draft Culture Bill consultation on 30th March 2007. The CMA, HICBF and MAPS encouraged their members to respond to the draft Culture Bill consultation and called on the Scottish Executive to recognise and support the contribution community media can make to delivering the aspirations of the Culture Bill. The deadline for responses was 31 March 2007. The CMA, HICBF and MAPS response to the Draft Culture (Scotland) Bill is available to read online. |
