“I am delighted to be working with the Community Media Association on the first Community Radio Licence Application Workshop for groups applying to the second round.  We attended two of the CMA’s Round One workshops in 2004 and I can say with confidence that the advice and support gained from these sessions contributed to the success of our application.  This is an excellent opportunity to learn from seasoned practitioners and meet the people at Ofcom who lead the process.”
Phil Gibbons, Station Manager of Bristol Community FM

This workshop was aimed at groups applying to Ofcom's second round of Community Radio licensing.   The workshop was put together by the CMA and Ofcom with Bristol Community FM and Forest of Dean Radio.  The workshop was an opportunity to get to grips with the application form and receive specialist advice on completing each section.  Delegates also met the author of the Community Radio application form guidance and receivd expert advice from Licensed Community Radio stations in the South West of England and South Wales.

Speakers at the Workshop
  • Lawrie Hallett, Ofcom Senior Associate working on Community Radio will provide an overview of application form, guidance and assessment process.
  • Phil Gibbons, Station Manager, Bristol Community FM. Bristol Community FM is an exciting radio station in the making based in Bristol, which has been put together by Community at Heart (Radio 19) and the British Empire & Commonwealth Museum (Commonwealth FM).
  • Andrew Jones, Station Manager, GTFM. GTFM is one of the 15 original pilot Access stations and is so far Wales's only Community Radio station on air broadcasting 24 hours a day on FM and online.
