London Huayu - Programme - Media Literacy programme produced by Tao Gong

24/06/2007

This discussion focuses on new media. P2P file sharing, podcasting, blogs and software are putting people more in control of the media. Whereas once people would have to hire a recording studio and engineers to produce a sound recording, nowadays all this can be done on a PC at home. The internet and blogs are seeing the rise of "citizen journalism". P2P file sharing changed the way music is consumed, and podcasting now puts people in control of the news schedule, so they can listen to radio programmes when it suits them as opposed to tuning in at a time prescribed by the radio station.
