Ofcom has today announced one community radio licence award.

Radio Beca, based in Aberystwyth, will broadcast programming in Welsh reflecting the nation’s culture to audiences in Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.

It is the last Welsh community radio station to be processed in the regulator’s third round of community radio licensing, and promises a large geographic coverage across the south-west of the country.

Radio Beca was founded by members of the Friends of Radio Ceredigion, a commercial station in Aberystwyth which altered its Welsh-language programming following a takeover last year.

Congratulations to the team at Radio Beca from all of us here at the CMA.
