Ofcom has awarded almost a quarter of a million pounds to sixteen community radio stations in the second round of its Community Radio Fund grants for 2012/13.
Stations in all parts of England will benefit from the cash, which is supplied by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport in a bid to boost the sustainability of stations.
Money is usually awarded to fund posts which will enable stations to raise further funds of their own – such as sales, fundraising and business development jobs.
Among the larger funding awards this time is £27,428 to a group of stations led by Oldham Community Radio, for a project to improve training across the sector.
