12 stations share Ofcom radio cash

Ofcom have handed out the first batch of awards in this year’s Community Radio Fund. Twelve stations have shared a total funding pot of just over £175,000, provided by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). 50 applications were submitted totalling over £800,000.

The largest award of just over £24,000 has gone to the two Takeover Radio stations in the East Midlands, for a shared Fundraising Officer post. Other large grants go to Abbey 104, recently launched in Sherborne in Dorset; and Vibe 107.6FM in Watford. The only award outside England is for a Station Manager at 3TFM in Ayrshire, Scotland.
