Guernsey stations invited to apply for community radio licences

Community radio groups in the Bailiwick of Guernsey have twelve weeks from today to apply for a community radio licence.

The move, made possible by the Community Radio (Guernsey) Order 2013, allows for the Channel Islands’ first full-time community radio services to be launched. Licences will be available on Guernsey itself, along with its neighbouring islands of Alderney and Sark.

Licences will be issued for the FM and AM wavebands – however, Ofcom say that the islands’ proximity to France is likely to limit the number of FM frequencies available.

The closing date for applications is 26 March 2014 – view the Invitation of Applications, and the Notes of Guidance at the Ofcom website.
