Ofcom has updated the timetable for inviting community radio licence applications in areas still to be licensed under Round 3.
The move comes after a larger than anticipated number of applications – thirty-eight – were received for Region 5, comprising the North West along with South and West Yorkshire.
Licence applications in Guernsey have been invited from today. Meanwhile, the licensing round in the West and East Midlands, including Lincolnshire, has been pushed back to the first half of 2014.
Stations in London and the South East are also facing a longer wait to apply for licences, as their application window has been moved to the second half of next year.
The latter part of 2014 will also see a new invitation for licences on the AM waveband in regions throughout the UK. These stations should cover larger areas than those on FM, with the added benefit of increased frequency availability in areas where FM spectrum is scarce.
