In this edition, we have an update from the recent Community Media Association’s AGM in London. We share information on applying to Ofcom for a new community radio licence and also congratulate Unity 101 as they celebrate 13 years on air.
There’s good news on a couple of projects at Gateway 97.8. Job opportunities at Chapel FM in Leeds and Gaydio in Brighton, and the UK’s first LGBT+ business and media centre opens in Gateshead.
We also share the ‘Future of Radio’ panel debate recorded at the 2018 Community Media Conference, the Decentered Media podcast on community media and social gain, a documentary from BBC World Service about a ground-breaking radio station broadcasting from a Buenos Aires psychiatric hospital, and we have community radio tutor Jay Sykes’ programme for Radio 4. Techies should check out the new RadioLookup application from Charlie Davy
And we finish with Creative Access, a scheme to help young people from BAME communities access opportunities in the creative industries.
Wishing you all the best for the festive season and a happy and prosperous New Year.
